Super Moon— June 23, 2013Be sure to look out for the Moon these next few months as it approaches Perigee, because the full moons during these times will appear exceptionally large. The Moon will be at its Perigee, or closest approach, in June 23 and it will reach full moon only a few minutes after it passes this point in its orbit. These ‘super moons’ not only appear larger because they are physically closer but, combined with a full moon, the mind can play tricks on you to think they are much larger. This phenomena is called the Moon Illusion. Try to catch these full moons as they rise/set because the illusion works when there is an object in the foreground, like a tree, building or mountains.
Stargazing Events for 2013

The largest full moon this year is coming up!
And to clear some things up. Yes, the top image is exaggerated and the moon won’t be a menacing object in the sky on the 23rd. No, it’s not going to come out of nowhere and dominate the sky and create destructive tides, though the tides will be affected but it’s nothing to worry about. The moon will appear large as it approaches full moon and even next months full moon will still appear large, however it will be a few percents smaller. The best time to see it will be between the afternoon of the 22nd and before sunrise on the 23rd (it reaches full moon on the morning of the 23rd technically).

When these happen in the summer they are not as impressive when your night is barely 4 hours long.

Liberals today are arguing that 300 years of immoral policy can be undone by changing the subject. If only we can fool white racists by helping black people under the guise of “class,” maybe we can get out from under this. But the math says that black people are a class unto themselves. There is no “black and white” elite, no “black and white” middle class, no colorless poor. And when you consider that white supremacy is a dominant strain in our history, how could there be? Spiritual Hike

I am going on a spiritual hike for three days. These things are much more fun without a god getting in the way.

Wii U

The new animal crossing makes me want a wii u. Is it worth it just for one game?

The way things are supposed to work is that we’re supposed to know virtually everything about what they do: that’s why they’re called public servants. They’re supposed to know virtually nothing about what we do: that’s why we’re called private individuals. This dynamic - the hallmark of a healthy and free society - has been radically reversed. Now, they know everything about what we do, and are constantly building systems to know more. Meanwhile, we know less and less about what they do, as they build walls of secrecy behind which they function. That’s the imbalance that needs to come to an end. No democracy can be healthy and functional if the most consequential acts of those who wield political power are completely unknown to those to whom they are supposed to be accountable.

Deodorant thing works, just have to keep in mind deodorant =/= antiperspirant. But I regularly use coconut oil for my skin after a shower and it has never felt better. I’d smooth some on pupup when he didn’t have his top coat in and it made his baby undercoat fluff feel glorious. Puppy likes to eat the stuff tho and grooms it off me (safer than him trying to groom lotion off me).I can’t stand how it feels on my lips by itself tho’, shea butter is way nicer.
